Access CVS via HTTP proxy? And rsync?

Hi,

Is there a way to access CVS via HTTP proxy?

The situation is that I have and only have an HTTP proxy to access
internet from behind my university's firewall. Thus there're problems
when I want to use CVS or rsync.

It seems there lies a patch for CVS to understand cvs_proxy. But I
just want another solution. Is there a way to use HTTP proxy for CVS
by another program or so?

Sorry for my poor English.

Thanks.

No, not unless the HTTP proxy supports the CONNECT method.

You could get your server admin to install apache and then put in a
front end like cvsweb or viewcvs. Have a look at these links:

http://www.freebsd.org/projects/cvsweb.html
http://viewcvs.sourceforge.net/

It will take a long time if you're going to check out each artefact of
an application one by one, unless you organise for some automated
script to do it. Those applications are really to view CVS via a
browser.

I don't know how you'd go about checking-in artefacts either. Those
two GUIs are more to check out...

If it does, what should I do?

Thank you.

Does it mean that I can't emerge emacs-cvs just as simple as type it?
Oh, that's so bad. :-(
