emerge kde

Just wondering …

About how many days does it take to emerge kde on a beige G3 233mhz desktop?
It’s been going 3 days, and it’s still on package 44 of 80 …

Hi Mark,

On a G3 700MHz 256MB, before they modularize,
it took about 9 hours for base system:
3h QT
3h kdelibs
3h kdebase

If you have a faster machine, I would suggest using it to
build packages with distcc and, if necessary, cross-compilers.

It even takes about 2 to 3 days on a G4 1GHz. Why don't you
use the pre-compiled G3-packages on the packages-CD?

It even takes about 2 to 3 days on a G4 1GHz. Why don't you
use the pre-compiled G3-packages on the packages-CD?

or use gnome :-)
it compiles way faster! Currently running 2.14 without any harmful
bugs (even if it is hard masked) on my G4.
