Hello! A few weeks ago, I wanted to install Gentoo on my G4 iMac, using the universal-2005.1 disk. I tried several kernels, but got nowhere in spite of all the kind advice I got. Now that kernel-2.6.14 has become available, I decided to have another go, but I am stopped by a compile error: LD init/built-in.o LD .tmp_vmlinux1 localsymbol 0 (or 1 or 2 or 3): discarded in section '.exit.data' from drivers/built-in.o make: *** [.tmp_vmlinux1] Error 1 Could someone explain what this means? I believe that my .config (copy attached) contains nothing out of the ordinary. Then what? All hints gratefully received. Charles
