Error when compiling kernel

Has anyone seen this error when compiling the kernel?
LD drivers/pci/built-in.o
drivers/scsi/.scsi_syms.o.cmd:1: warning: NUL character seen; rest of
line ignored

make[1]: *** [drivers/scsi] Error 2
make: *** [drivers] Error 2
I am using the latest development-sources emerge build, at least lates
as of approx. 7:00am CST US.
