Thanks for reporting. I've been curious about the policy to add the ppc (or ~ppc) keyword to ebuilds. I've been adding these keywords mannually to the ebuilds I need and I use under x86. For what I've seen in the list, I guess the rule is "if somebody made it compile under ppc, report it to gentoo-ppc-dev". Is it correct? (Sorry for the topic if it's already documented -- actually I didn't check it.) If that's the way, I know of some masked-by-missing-keyword applications which were compiled and have been working fine for me (although not extensively tested) so maybe they could be promoted to ~ppc: dev-scheme/chicken-1.89 x11-plugins/wmmsg-1.0 x11-plugins/bfm-0.6.4 x11-plugins/wmmon-1.0_beta2-r2 The machine is an ibook G3. # emerge --info Portage 2.0.51-r15 (default-linux/ppc/2004.3, gcc-3.4.1, glibc-2.3.3.20040420-r2, 2.6.10 ppc) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.10 ppc 745/755 Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4-r1 [2.3.4 (#1, Feb 16 2005, 07:26:18)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.9.4 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.90.0.3-r3 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.2-r7 virtual/os-headers: 2.4.22 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-Os -g0 -mtune=G3 -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-Os -g0 -mtune=G3 -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.datapipe.net/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X alsa berkdb bitmap-fonts curl dvd emacs emboss f77 font-server fortran gdbm gif gtk imagemagick imlib jpeg libwww motif mozilla ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam perl png ppc python readline sdl ssl tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts xml2 xmms xv zlib" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY PS: just recently I set the -Os flag.
