Well, I see you've dropped the CISSP. I suppose that's progress.

I wonder if we can get John C. A. Bambenek, GCIH, CISSP
<bambenek.infosec[at]gmail.com> to drop his CISSP too!

Uh, maybe because announcing your CISSP is pretentious enough, but doing
it in a username is over the top?

Anybody who thinks a CISSP is a "license to hack" is dreadfully ignorant
of what little overlap there is between hacking skills and the material
covered in the CISSP.

Hint: A CISSP needs to know why "security" involves knowing what the local
building and electrical codes are....

So back to the point Valdis, should he keep CISSP in his username?

Re: Geeks [In reply to]

It took more than that you fat beast of a man!!!!!

CISSP is a very high accreditation and only the best of the best can
achieve such a level of excellence in their hacking abilities to
obtain it. It's basically the PhD of hacking.

Why are you putting CISSP in your shit up there like that pretending
to be a badass motherfucker when you're just a fat loser with no
talent.

Your face looks like a pepperoni pizza. Nice zits bro.

Way to go eating all them hamburgers and turning into a fat old retarded loser.

Right, because the CISSP isn't about hacking. It's about risk management.
It's about balancing the cost of adding more security to a system against
the costs of an intrusion. It's about the costs of testing a disaster
recovery plan, and the costs of not having a plan. It's about what sort
of backup schedule you should have, and what the retention period on the
backups should be, and why. It's about knowing how deep a background check
you should make on prospective employees. It's about how much security
awareness training the users need.

Hacking is a *very small* part of the security world.

Especially considering that my mustache is big and bushy and *not* the sort
that needs mustache wax. Oh, and since I probably started growing it well

Huh?

There are plenty of CISSPs you wouldn't want on your bad side. They just decided to grow up and make a legitimate living. It simply creates a 'standard' by which companies can use to gauge a person's understanding is at a base level.

They also learned how to use spell check and form a proper sentence that one does not have to read three times to understand.

If that's true, I'm sure you can name a few.

Or are you all hot air like two thirds of the bozos that constantly post
to this list?

As Jeff Wilder said before, it's a management certification.
As someone else has said, CISSP provides a baseline for others to make
assessment of your knowledge.

Two people, both achieved CISSP certification, one took 15 years of work in
the industry, and failed the exam once. The other graduated from uni and
passed the exam on the first try.

Their knowledge is not the same, the guy that graduated from university and
passed simply has a photographic memory.

It's to provide a baseline, it's like saying that everyone that graduates
from high school is of the same intelligence as everyone else who graduated
that year... it's a baseline.

Warning, my fud below...
A director at another company I was talking with told me a story how he and
a friend had to sit an exam the next day, the Director had studied all the
material thoroughly, the other guy didn't, and didn't even study one of the
core subjects of the exam criteria.
The other guy studied the material the night before (the material he didn't
study earlier) for two hours and passed. The Director failed by 7 points.

The Director asked his friend how he passed when he didn't study the
material and just read it the night before... his friends reply "I have a
photographic memory, in 3 months I won't remember a thing".

Re: Geeks [In reply to]

For the record, I got it because I got tired of HR guys asking me about
security certifications just before deciding not to give me an interview.
It's like a college degree... it's a piece of paper that is your entrance
ticket.
