Web Application Security Awareness Day [In reply to]

Dearest n3td3v,
Please allow me to thank you on behalf of the security community
and industry: you are an asset beyond compare. We would request
you continue your hard work at maintaining widespread awareness of
security, journalistic, and PR foibles, without which many of us
would be uninformed and worthless.

At the end of the day when we retire from our stressful, high-
paying jobs to the relative comfort of our homes and pubs, we lift
a glass to you, for it is you and your postings that make the day-
to-day drudgery of explaining for the eighth time why YouTube is
blocked at the proxy bearable.

Not a single joke has been uttered in our circles in the past six
months that didn't have a punchline of "Barracuda", "n3td3v", or
"blow it out your ass", and for that we are truly grateful. There
used to be a pool on how much reputation damage this particular
persona of yours could sustain and still be salvageable, but even
that was dropped after your MI6 and journalism claims. You provide
a minimum of 33.3% of our levity in an industry where such high-
quality humor comes at a dear premium.

Your narcissistic attempts at relevance and your impotent rants are
both deeply entertaining and a truly inspiring example of precisely
how not to go about any of our work. Thank you for the constant
reminder of why we keep our heads down and our names private.

*To n3td3v*

Web Application Security Awareness Day [In reply to]

I'm considering cancelling Web Application Security Awareness Day
because no one is supporting my day everyone is just saying nasty
things and cloning things i've said to make fun of me and make me mad.

I lost my temper
http://lists.grok.org.uk/pipermail/full-disclosure/2008-April/061742.html
last night and made bad language at people, this is out of character
for me, but it made me realise Web Application Security Awareness Day
is a failed cause, no one is supporting the day.

Most likely causes people aren't supporting the day is because its me
who announced it, if HD Moore had announced the same day people would
have supported it, its because I announced it that people don't want
to be involved.

My bad language has undermined the integrity of the day, and its with
deep regret that the people who wanted to upset me have won, they post
rude remarks, they cloned my text, they did everything they could to
stop the project, even Valdis Kletnieks does not support the day, so
the day is more or less cancelled.

Web Application Security Awareness Day was supposed to be the day I
could shine and the security community could shine, but I don't feel
like shining anymore.

I don't have the will power or self esteem to carry on without
support, it has been a failed mission, I failed, we all failed.

Good bye everybody,

n3td3v

Does this mean you may actually stfu permanently?
Is this sad blubberfest of defeated loser indicative of you giving
up and taking your bullshit elsewhere?
Take your Web Application Security Awareness Day and shove it up
your ass. PLEASE cancel it and while you're at it, get the fuck off
this list.

You can't kill an IDEA man ok, like that lives on in the minds of the
people right the people you've touched with your ramblings man.
Like you need to just toughen up and ignore the negative people on the
list, they're just jealous of your connections and ability to strike
at the heart of the compsec industry and judge exactly what it needs.

Keep on keeping on,

Travis

The more important you think you are, the less others are inclined
to. Inciting you to anger was the primary objective, not because
we care but because you have become entertainment.

Acknowledgement is the first step.

The sooner you realize no one cares if you or anyone else shines,
the better off you will be. Fascinating how the word-wrap ended up
emphasizing the same words you would have.

Listen carefully. Hear that silence? That's nobody in the real
world caring. Nobody except your little circle of touchy-feely
friends wants to gather behind you. You are not a special
snowflake. Get over it and grow up - in spite of your claim to be
26-7, you have the emotional age of a 15 year old.
