RFC 1892 in Exim

Exim is delivering 'Mail delivery failed' without the right 'Content-Type'
as defined in RFC 1892. Is this a 'exim-daemon-light' issue, or is there
anything misconfigured?

Exim does not support RFC 1892. It just does what all SMTP MTA
implementations did before that was invented -- return bounces using a
private format.

This is because Philip Hazel was never a fan of MIME. He felt it was
only something MUAs should worry about, and the processing does not belong
in MTAs. For the same reason, RFC-compliant 8BITMIME support (which
requires MIME downconversion) was never added.

(MIME ACLs were a feature imported from the Exiscan project, not Philip's
work.)

RFC 1892 is obsolete, by the way. The current relevant standard is RFC
6522.

Exim does not support RFC1892. Its been a wishlist item for a
substantial number of years, but no one has as yet got an acceptable
implementation although I believe some work has been done on this recently.
