outlook chokes on large mails

outlook chokes on large mails

Hi,
we having some issues downloading messages with outlook.
I know downloading is not part of an MTA, but the propblem is, exim is the
only thing I didn't try to replace in the chain yet. I tried pop3 as well as
imap, and with dovecot, tpop3d, courier.
All make outlook choke on a 3mb mail. It will never finish fetching it.
Is it possible that exim triggered an outlook bug somehow? Maybe any ideas how
to work around it?
The previous mailserver run postfix and the problem ocured when switching to
exim.

Outlook won't be downloading emails from exim, that's not what exim does.

Sounds like a network problem, but wait - have you tried any other MuA and
they don't choke?

Does Exim deliver with the similar ownership/permissions as Postfix used to?

Downloading mail is not related to Exim. AFAIK. :)
Of course, the mail you're downloading passed exim probably.

Long time ago we had some issues with choked outlooks, but not
depending on the message size. If I remember well, Outlook crashed on
existing, but empty headers.

Current (mostly outlook) issues are about big mailboxes. It depends on
the POP3 server, how long it takes to "enumerate" the mails in the
mailbox. Outlook seems to have a quite short timeout there.
