incompatible command-line options or arguments

To whom it may concern

I run debian testing

On restarting Exim i get this

root[at]mail:/etc/exim4/conf.d# /etc/init.d/exim4 restart
Stopping MTA for restart:/sbin/start-stop-daemon: warning: failed to
kill 26182: No such process
exim4_listener.
Restarting MTA:exim: incompatible command-line options or arguments

All i did was log into the machine, run

dpkg-reconfigure ca-certificates

Remove a few CA's and then restart the daemon.

Was forced to run exim -bd.

Im sure its something else, I may have missed, but generally
update-exim.conf, told me what the problem was / is.

It sounds like your problem concerns

http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-exim4-users

since it relates to init scripts provided by Debian, not to Exim itself.

Hi

Thanks for this, I was googling a bit more and found that the problem is
with lsb.

I see that Marc Haber has filed a bug with the Lsb crew, and too fixed
it for unstable.

Started exim manually, dont like it, but its not like I have a choice
right. Hopefully Marc too will port 4.69-3 to testing very soon.

Thanks again.

Regards
Brent Clark

http://www.debian.org/releases/testing/

Thankfully it doesn't take manual intervention to have packages
migrate from unstable to testing.

Greetings
Marc

It is probably going to take exim some time to propagate to testing,
since it is tied to the perl5.10 transition. The easiest workaround is
to simply downgrade lsb-base to 3.2-8.
