8bitmime is a requirement for Lemonade submission servers. It's supported by
Exim, with the accept_8bitmime option, but that option is disabled by default.
Exim may be the most widespread MTA without proper 8bitmime support.

8bitmime could be enabled by default if the smtp transport were able to convert
8 bit MIME parts to 7 bit when necessary.
