Compilation problem

Hello,

I'm trying to compile drbd 8.3.6 on debian lenny like ine official doc :

- git clone git://git.drbd.org/drbd-8.3.git
- cd drbd-8.3

And when I try :

- dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b -uc
or
- ./configure && make && make install

I'm getting this :

entering directory /usr/src/drbd-8.3.6/documentation

--xinclude http://...../drbdsetup.xml

-make[1]: --xinclude : command not found

Don't know what is missing.

Thanks for your help.

Olivier

Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 4), debconf-utils, sp, docbook-utils, docbook, flex, dpatch

so you probably need:
apt-get install sp docbook-utils docbook

yes, we probably should spit out some meaningfull error message
instead of collapsing an empty variable supposed to contain the binary
name of the conversion tools to nothing.

but you are supposed to install build dependencies.

Re: Compilation problem [In reply to]

Hi,

Thanks for the tip but I have another problem now :

- I get drbd : git clone git://git.drbd.org/drbd-8.3.git to buid a debian
package
- when I run dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b -uc like the doc say I have

config.status: error : cannot find input file: user/config.h.in

I'v search and googled it ... no clue .

Thanks for help.

Olivier

Hi,

Seems that autoheader is missing .. run autoheader and then retry,

hope that helps,

As ./configure --help says, the --enable-spec option doesn't create a
Makefile. It creates RPM spec files. You don't want to run make after
creating RPM spec files. You want to do something like "rpmbuild -ba
drbd.spec" , which will build RPMs for the userland part of DRBD. Repeat for
drbd-km.spec to build the kernel module. (Really, this is a bit more trouble
than it's worth unless you've got several DRBD-using machines.)

Repeat
for drbd-km.spec to build the kernel module. (Really, this is a bit more
trouble than it's worth unless you've got several DRBD-using machines.)

You have not done initial full resynchronization:

should be self descriptive ... best to disable allow-two-primaries on
both sides until initial full sync is done.
