drbdadm verify {resource} ... isn't

Hi.

I am trying to get the online verification to work on 8.2.6, and I added the
"verify-alg sha1;" to the "syncer" stanza in the "common" section, rsync the
config files, "drbdadm adjust all" on both nodes, and then:

root[at]xen-02:/etc/xen# drbdadm verify webapp02-test-root
/dev/drbd6: Failure: (137) (null)
Command 'drbdsetup /dev/drbd6 verify' terminated with exit code 10

I even tried adding a syncer section to that specific resource rsync,
adjust, verify and ... fail.

It's failing for any resource I try (in use or not).

What should I look at next?

Thanks,
Sam

Nothing in there ... nor in any of the /var/log files.

Is there a way I can turn on more debugging with drbd to see what's going
on?

Thanks,
Sam

Oh also, from /proc/drbd (on the host I'm trying the verify command from):

version: 8.0.11 (api:86/proto:86)
GIT-hash: b3fe2bdfd3b9f7c2f923186883eb9e2a0d3a5b1b build by phil[at]mescal,
2008-02-12 11:56:43
2: cs:Connected st:Secondary/Primary ds:UpToDate/UpToDate C r---
ns:0 nr:903984 dw:903984 dr:0 al:0 bm:16 lo:0 pe:0 ua:0 ap:0
resync: used:0/31 hits:308 misses:16 starving:0 dirty:0 changed:16
act_log: used:0/127 hits:0 misses:0 starving:0 dirty:0 changed:0

Now, it says version: 8.0.11 ... does that mean the drbd loaded module is
8.0.11? I'm not sure how that's possible since I built the kernel from
source and then build drbd 8.2.6 from source and installed the module!?!

yes.
that does not support online verify.

modinfo drbd
find /lib/modules/`uname -r` -name "drbd.ko"

Re: drbdadm verify {resource} ... isn't [In reply to]

GAH!!!!

Ubuntu got me! I didn't install the DRBD stuff on purpose, but they snuck
it into the default kernel.

If I could get the Xen 3.3.1 build's linux kernel to work as a Dom0, I
wouldn't have run into this ... go figure.

Well, I disabled the default Ubuntu DRBD module, did a depmod, and suddenly,
I have the version I expect and verify works! Hooray!

So, any recommendations between sha1, md5, or crc32c? They all seem to run
in about the same time (~75 seconds on my test 4G device). Is one more
accurate than the other?
