DBMail 3.1.2 released

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

Hi all,

DBMail 3.1.2 was released.

This is a bug-fix only release. So no new features or schema-changes.

Bugs fixed:

- - POP3: Incorrect display of encoded messages in POP3
- - LMTP: Incorrect acknowledgement of recipients in LMTP, which led to
deferred messages in the MTA queue.
- - IMAP: Fixes the "BAD invalid sequence" response after IMAP UID commands.

I've just realized dbmail is hosted on github. Paul, do you prefer
github issue tracker + pull-requests or the mantis + patches?

I prefer the mantis tracker. But I definitely prefer pull-requests over
patches.

Hi,

I'm keen to upgrade our mail system from DBMail 3.0.1 to 3.1.x as I understand that some significant improvements have been made in 3.1x. However, I've been following the recent messages on this list relating to some quite major issues between 3.1.0 and 3.1.1, so I'm a little cautious.

I use the Ubuntu/Debian packages kindly provided in the repo http://debian.nfgd.net/debian/, but I notice that the above all-important version of DBMail (3.1.2) has not been provided there yet. Are there plans to provide 3.1.2 updated Debian packages to replace the current 3.1.0 version which is currently present in the aforementioned repository?

I'm only able to install packaged versions of software to the live environment, so it would be great if we could get a 3.1.2 for Ubuntu/Debian, please. I completely appreciate the time and effort that has been put into this project, especially in recent weeks on 3.1.x.

Kind regards,

Joe

My rebuildd setup was hosed somehow, so packages provided on
debian.nfgd.net are incomplete and outdated.

Someone is working on getting DBMail + Libzdb into Debian proper, and I
think there may be some PPA somewhere for Ubuntu as well.

Sorry I don't have time to work on that at the moment.

There is way too much going on in DBMail's master branch I want to
finish up on.

Some really nice IMAP capabilities that will especially help mobile
users (and thunderbird, afaik).

Also, I really want to land proper automatic schema-migrations -
something users have been asking for for a very long time. I think I
have a nice setup for that now, but it still needs to be integrated and
finished.

So that is my release plan for now:

The current branch (dbmail_3_1) is for bug-fixes only. The micro-version
will be used for that.

When newer features land that require schema migrations or haven't seen
any or little real-world testing, the minor version will be bumped.

Only complete re-writes of sub-systems will lead to major version bumps.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I understand that your priorities lie more with improving the stability of DBMail as a whole at the moment. The IMAP improvements that have been discussed on here recently are especially interesting and are something to look forward to once more up to date packages are released.

I look forward to maybe seeing DBMail making it's way into Debian/Ubuntu repos :-)

Thanks,

Joe
