[DBMail 0000814]: Wish to disable external forwarding

The following issue has been SUBMITTED.
======================================================================

Reported By: namailsj
Assigned To:
======================================================================
Project: DBMail
Issue ID: 814
Category: PIPE delivery (dbmail-smtp/dbmail-deliver)
Reproducibility: N/A
Severity: feature
Priority: normal
Status: new
target:
======================================================================
Date Submitted: 31-Oct-09 02:59 CET
Last Modified: 31-Oct-09 02:59 CET
======================================================================
Summary: Wish to disable external forwarding
Description:
I wish for a feature or parameter in /etc/dbmail.conf to disable external
forwarding, that will provide flexibility for an email-admin to use a real
MTA such as postfix to handle the external forwarding by using the
virtual_alias_maps and use dbmail only for local emails.

I think email sending/forwarding is not the dbmail's strongest feature,
which should be better left for an external MTA to handle, MTA such as
postfix have features which can be used for disabling email header
rewrites, which comes very handy if you are forwarding emails that needs to
be authenticated using domainkeys/DKIM.

There is nothing that prevents you from using your MTA to do all
forwarding. No need to change dbmail.

If MTA sends an external forward and hands off the local email to dbmail,
then wouldn't dbmail try to send another external forward if that local
account also has a forward.
