DAViCal Web Client [In reply to]

Hi,

I've been using the DAViCal server for a couple of weeks now, and today
I found out about the DAViCal Web Client. I understand it's a
"third-party" client, but I gave it a show anyway. However, the
documentation is rather poor:

http://wiki.davical.org/w/DAViCal_Web_Client
http://wiki.davical.org/w/DAViCal_Web_Client_Installation

My problem: I'm running the DAViCal server and the DAViCal Web Client on
different servers, and I'm unsure how to direct the client to the
server. As it is a client, I assume I have to tell it the server name,
my account information and the complete URI.

Can anybody enlighten me? I'm a bit in the wild here.

Cheers,

Maarten te Paske

Sorry for my late followup to your response. I understand I have to
point the DAViCal web client to the DAViCal server, but I don't know
where to do it. The config.inc.php file that was created during
installation does not contain any such directives.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but the documentation is so little:

http://wiki.davical.org/w/DAViCal_Web_Client_Installation

Thanks,

1) Create a new user - admin cannot have calenders
2) Login as this new user
3) In the upper right corner you will find an icon called config -
click this icon
4) Click the button "configure calendars"
5) Click the button "New calendar"
6) Enter relevant information and save
7) Click the button "Today" and the new calendar should show up

Re: DAViCal web client [In reply to]

it indeed does! thanks! for the tip.
on the DAViCal own web client, have you tried it?
it confuses me a bit, setup/installation for pgsql asks for
postgresql dba & postgresql dba password,
which are these?

These refers to the fact that the web client has its own database. If
you prefer to use the same database manager running your davical
instans simply point the installer to this instans. The reason for
asking for the postgresql dba and password is to be able to create a
database and a user for the web client in this database manager.

Re: Possible bug when syncing LDAP-groups [In reply to]

Hi Andrew,

I've added some lines of code in drivers_ldap.php to re-active already
existing groups.
Inserted directly after 'foreach ( $groups_to_update as $group )' :

$qry = new AwlQuery( "SELECT username FROM dav_principal WHERE
username='".$group."' AND type_id=3 AND user_active=FALSE");
$qry->Exec('sync_LDAP_groups',__LINE__,__FILE__);

while($qry->Fetch()) {
$qry = new AwlQuery( "UPDATE dav_principal set user_active=TRUE WHERE
username='".$group."' AND type_id=3 AND user_active=FALSE");
$qry->Exec('sync_LDAP_groups',__LINE__,__FILE__);
$c->messages[] = sprintf(i18n('- reactivating group : %s'.$group),join());
}

This is pretty simple, maybe you can add this in the next release.
Suggestions welcome! ;-)

Re: [Bulk] Re: DAViCal web client [In reply to]

thanks Michael for clarifying things for me, however
I'm still not sure I get the hang of these users/password
relations
davical server runs just fine, now for postgres the dba is
postgres as per default installation, yet when I try these I
get, probably common:

stage2: SQLSTATE[08006] [7] could not connect to server:
Permission denied Is the server running on host "localhost"
and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

I did tamper with pg_hba.conf so to test it I get connection
locally and remotely as postgres user
I'm at loss to follow this,
any thoughts?

The user postgres will, by default, only be allowed to connect via a
unix socket on localhost which is configured by this line:
local all all ident

What I would suggest for you to do is the following:
As root
1) createuser -P -s sys
2) Add this line as the first line after the first line starting by
host in the file pg_hba.conf:
host all sys 127.0.0.1/32 md5
3) restart postgresql

Use this newly created user as postgres dba

Re: [Bulk] Re: [Bulk] Re: DAViCal web client [In reply to]

yes, well, setup got me frustrated and I did not notice that
at one point setup process got through,
I fixed postress user and it got to "webcal" user
complaining about lack of permission
it would help to fix the wiki pages for the client, I've
search the archives and saw this kind of situation I got
myself into many many people experienced, and still do

tip that webcal user need to be setup for webcal database in
postgres' pg_hba.conf (in one finely controls access to
postgres)

now my question would be, can the client be squeezed into
the sama vhost DAViCal server is in?

regards
