Free/Busy Support?

Hi everyone,

Davical is working well for me, _except_ for Free/Busy support. I tried
to debug/troubleshoot the problem back in October, and had thought I had
succeeded, but ended up having to set down the project to work on other
concerns. Now I'm back to working on it, and I'm having no success.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone can suggest how I can
debug/troubleshoot/fix this problem!

The symptom is: When scheduling a meeting, all users show as "free", at
all times. (Never shows any events)

Server is:
Davical 0.9.9.4, PHP 5.3.2, Postgres 8.2.17, Apache 1.3.41, FreeBSD 7.3

Client is:
Thunderbird 3.0, Lightning 1.0b5, Windows XP Pro

As a test, I ran the following by hand -- and it also reports no events
(even though I specified the whole year)

GET
http://example.com/davical/freebusy.php/klemscot/home?start=20110101T000000Z&end=20110901T000000Z

It also works from within Sunbird (Lightning stand-alone), though
1.02b. Rumors say than 1.05b is broken vis-a-vis davical

Server: Davical 0.9.9.4, Debian Stable, postgresql 8.4.8-0squeeze2,
apache 2.2.16-6+squeeze1, php 5.3.3-7+squeeze3

Client: Debian Unstable, iceowl 1.02b (Sunbird in disguise)

Have you tried Sunbird 3.1?

BTW. You do remember that attendees should be entered with their full
email address and not their username?

Eg. for me the attendee would be mir [at] datanom and not simply mir.

Great, I'm glad it works for you. Do you know how I can troubleshoot and
learn why it's not working for me? I'm probably missing a detail
somewhere -- but I have no idea where.

That's interesting... I'll try another calendar program (maybe Sunbird
if that's working for you, though Mozilla has suggested that it's being
discontinued.)

But Davical isn't working when I do my own HTTP request manually, either
(as I showed in my previous message.) Surely that means something is
wrong in my Davical setup, not the client...? Unless I typed something
wrong in my manual session?

Great! Thanks for trying this. This tells me that the Free/Busy support
in Davical does work on your server... Now I need to figure out why
it doesn't work on my server. I probably installed something
incorrectly... any suggestions as to how I can diagnose the problem?
Anywhere I can look to get troubleshooting info?

That's interesting... Lightning (1.0b5) seems to work great with
Davical for the basic calendaring for me, though.

I can certainly give Sunbird a try. (But didn't Mozilla say they were
going to stop enhancing Sunbird in favor of Lightning??) However, I have
a feeling something is messed up in my Davical, because even running a
Free/Busy request by hand (as I demonstrated in my earlier message)
doesn't return any information.

Surely if my requests done by hand don't work, the issue is on my
server, not my client ... ?

Thanks for looking into this. If you think of anything else that might
help, please let me know.

Re: Free/Busy Support? [In reply to]

Hi

sending invitation does only work for me (Davical 0.9.4 , Thunderbird
5.0 , Lightning 1.0b5) when the following is set in the Davical
configuration file:

$->enable_auto_schedule = false;

Its also described in the Davical wiki.
Maybe free busy is also effected.

Please keep in mind that you have to connect the users email to the
calender in lightning and in Davical.

Cheers

Soeren

Hi Scott,

Did you solve this one?

Is it possible that your home calendar has "Schedule Transparency" set
to be 'Transparent'? Also, make sure that the defalut privileges on
your user record include "Read Free/Busy Information" and "Scheduling:
Query free/busy".

Regards,
Andrew McMillan.
