Are you actually using 127.0.0.1..? Because that won't work unless you have some how managed to install davical and a webserver on your iphone.. The iphone can find your contacts without any tricks, the fact that it chopped off the stuff on the end should be okay, I think it actually does save the full path but then doesn't display it for some reason.. For carddav you shouldn't need the full path either, just http://web.server/caldav.php/ should be enough for it to find your contacts based on the username you enter. I have a number of iphones with various ios versions using carddav with davical without any tricks or hacks to get them working. There IS a problem with very large contact lists, but that's a separate issue...
