No Calendar Invites Being Sent/Received

Hello,
I have a fresh install of DAViCal (0.9.9.4) on Ubuntu 10.04. It installed
just fine and I am able to navigate the web interface and schedule using
Sunbird and my iPhone. I am even able to see Free/Busy information.
However, when I send calendar invites to email addresses with accounts on
the DAViCal server, I never receive a corresponding email or notification in
Sunbird or my email account.
I did a bunch of searching on the DAViCal site and the mailing list archives
and I couldn't find any information that explicitly mentions how DAViCal
sends out calendar invites. Does it use Sendmail or Postfix or does it use
the locally-installed mail client somehow?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
