Protection from crapware and other... crap?

Hi!

Does ClamAV also detect and block undesired software that is usually
ignored by most most AV products?
I'm talking about various browser toolbars, browser search hijackers
(Ask, Conduit, etc) and other "useless" programs that usually come
bundled with (mostly free) applications?

Any suggestion about blocking those programs are welcome?

(I just got a laptop delivered by a relative, "for cleaning". God
knows what I will find on it...)

Regards,
David

PS: I know the term crapware is "officially" used to refer to
"useless" programs that come preinstalled on new PCs that already have
an OS installed. I use it more widely here.

My understanding is 'no, clamav is only for detecting malware', but I
could be wrong.

David,

You may find what you are looking for under the "PUA - Potentially Unwanted
Applications" signature category.
