Problems upgrading to .0.92

I just attempted to upgrade to 0.92 on a XP Pro box but attempts to run
both freshclam and clamd result in a dialog box that says something to the
effect of application can't run because of application configuration
problem.

Steps taken so far:
-uninstalled 0.91-2
-deleted residual \clamav folder
-restarted
-installed 0.92 using installer
-received error on attempt to run freshclam
-restarted
-error remained
-checked and modified .conf files to match settings of the .91-2 files
-error remains

I find it interesting that the clamav-092.exe file is only 620KB in size
compared to the previous clamav-091-2.exe file which weighed in at 2.74MB.
I redownloaded clamav-092.exe before starting to be sure I had the whole
file. Should I not have uninstalled 0.91?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA

hello.

I think you have problems with updating the database.

I think you need this file

ftp://sourceware.org/pub/pthreads-win32/dll-latest/lib/pthreadVC2.dll

put it into

C:\program files\clamav

The file pthreadVC2.dll was in c:\clamav\bin. Are you saying I should replace
the file installed by the installer with the one from the FTP site?

Re: Problems upgrading to .0.92 [In reply to]

Hello.

when i first install clamav version 0.92 the file was missing in C:\Program
Files\clamAV . I had problems with starting clamav services becouse i
haven't had this file in this directory. When i installed this file in this
directory and i rebooted the machine then the service in task manager
appeared and update went well.

P.S. I havent got bin director in my installation and also i haven't
installed it into c:\clamav. I had default path in my installation and that
is C:\Program Files\clamAV.

It seems you may be using tBB's binaries which need the MS VC++ runtime libraries,
although without the exact error message I can't be certain.

If this is so, the extra package is available from the same site, or direct from
Microsoft.

Re: Problems upgrading to .0.92 [In reply to]

My friend,

Try with this file: pthreads-w32-2-8-0-release.exe or pthreads-2005-03-08.exe

there you will find a directory with all pthread

Maybe it can help you.

I was wondering about that. It would explain why the file clamav-092.exe is so
much smaller than clamav-091-2, assuming that the requirement of the MC VC++
runtime libraries is new to .092. If it isn't then this isn't the answer.
I'll give it a try next chance I get.

Correct, it is a smaller size and now requires the extra libraries with 0.92 because he
creates it without the cygwin emulation - for various technical reasons. There is a
readme file in the root install (\clamav) which gives more detail.
