Upgrade from 0.91.2 to 0.92

Hello.

I'm very confused about ugrade.

If i install clamav 0.91.2 with powertools the service is started and
everything is OK.

If i want to upgrade to 0.92 from your web page an error appeard saying that
i must first deinstall older product. I have tried this but then powertools
didn't work. Uff....

Is there any way to have this version 0.91.2 let say for one year with no
program updates?

0.91.2 version is here:
http://www.bandsman.co.uk/clamav.htm

0.92 version is here:
http://w32.clamav.net/

How can i start service with 0.92 - it's imposible without powertools

This list is for the official ClamAV windows port found at
http://w32.clamav.net/

If you are having issues with PowerTools then I think you need to contact
the maker of that software (i.e. NJH Software)

Snip taken from the http://www.bandsman.co.uk/clamav.htm site:

---
Power Tools (25/9/06): This software is free for personal use. Commercial
licences and support agreements are available from NJH Software. No warranty
is made either explicitly or implicitly for its use. The package is "work in
progress" and is NOT an offering of ClamAV or Sourcefire.
---

p.s. sorry for top posting.

Since Nigel maintains both the power tools and this port of ClamAV, I don't
suppose it's out of the question that he would answer questions about power
tools here when he's not too busy to do so.

That said, I don't see why you couldn't install ClamAV 0.92 and the power
tools. Don't uninstall power tools, just ClamAV.

Re: Upgrade from 0.91.2 to 0.92 [In reply to]

I didn't have any issue with the upgrade aside from the uninstaller not
working from add/remove programs. I had the original msi file so it was
easy enough to uninstall from there. I just stopped the service (created by
powertools) uninstalled the old version, installed the new version and
started the service again. I am having an issues with
clamdscan.execrashing on exit (after a scan) which I launch from a
script whenever orbit
is done downloading a file. I wasn't having this problem in the previous
version 0.91.2.

"Faulting application clamdscan.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module
msvcr80.dll, version 8.0.50727.762, fault address 0x0001e879."

The line in my script is pretty basic - @"C:\Program
Files\clamAV\clamdscan.exe" --no-summary %~n1%~x1

Not sure what is causing that, but it appears to be done scanning the file
before it crashes.

Try as I might, I can't reproduce this with either the debugging or release
version of clamAV 0.92. Any suggestions gratefully received.

I'm seeing the same thing, clamdscan crashes after scanning with this crash report
_______________________________________________
szAppName : clamdscan.exe szAppVer : 0.0.0.0 szModName : msvcr80.dll
szModVer : 8.0.50727.1433 offset : 0001e898

Also my application, running "clamdscan.exe --no-summary --stdout filename", reports an exit code of 1073741811, although I'm not sure how much help that is.

If I run the same scan from the command line the scan reports "OK" before clamdscan crashes. Curiously with 0.92 if I omit the "--no-summary" switch I still don't get a scan summary, perhaps it crashes between the OK and the summary

I have found, and fixed, a problem that occurs when clamdscan is closing, which may be
the issue you have raised. The problem is Windows specific. By the time you read this
there will be a new release version to download from w32.clamav.net

It appears to be fixed in my tests, thanks Nigel. You are the best!
