ClamaAV take over by Google Inc. ?

Hi,

Has ClamaAV been taken-over by the Men in Black from google Inc. ?

The ClamAv Wiki is currently down. It hadn't been updated for some
time (several years!) and it was time to covert it into something
more useable.

We are currently converting the relevant documentation that was in
the Wiki into something more useful and it will be forthcoming."

No, but it has been taken over by SourcFire and many from the original
development team have moved on to other projects. That has given ClamAV
additional resources to accomplish projects such as this as well as imposed
the inevitable changes that come with a larger organization. We'll all just
have to wait and see how all this works out down the road.

The acquisition of ClamAV by Sourcefire was already in August of 2007.

Seems Sourcefire is in trouble as CEO John Burris recently had to take
a medical leave for colon-cancer treatment, which is a sad thing.
Lets hope he will recover.

Yes, but the departure of the development team and reorganization occurred
less than a month ago

As I said in the blog post, the Wiki hadn't been updated in several years. So we took it down.

We are going to be placing the documentation that was in the Wiki in the ACTUAL documentation that comes with the software. We're working on it!

I'll announce via the blog when everything is 'back to normal'

Hello Joel

The problem with your approach is that the documentation that is currently delivered with the latest release of clamav (0.97.5) refers only to that wiki. For example, the UPGRADE file contains only the following line:
http://wiki.clamav.net/Main/UpgradeInstructions

Would not it be more reasonable to leave this wiki alive until a new version of clamav software is available which includes this documentation?

Francois

Understood. I have these instructions and will put them out somewhere in the meantime. I'm on my iPad about to get on a plane to Vegas right now though.

Unfortunately no. There were other issues with the wiki, and we had to take it down. The upgrade documentation, however, had very little in it.

If basically said, if you are running an rpm... Upgrade the rpm.
