Freshclam Stuck ?

Freshclam 0.95.2 running from cron on an Linux FC8 system.
(Built from source).

Getting no further than......

"
ClamAV update process started at Tue Jun 16 13:49:01 2009
main.cld is up to date (version: 51, sigs: 545035, f-level: 42,
builder: sven)
daily.cld is up to date (version: 9470, sigs: 29413, f-level: 43,
builder: ccordes)
Trying host db.UK.clamav.net (163.1.3.8)...
Downloading safebrowsing-4551.cdiff [100%]
"

It's unable to reload clamd, I think, and subsequent freshclam runs
give the error......

"
ERROR: /var/log/freshclam.log is locked by another process
ERROR: Problem with internal logger (UpdateLogFile = /var/log/
freshclam.log).
"

I have to manually 'kill' freshclam.

Is anyone else having this problem ??

Thanks,
Robert

Yes. Exactly the same problem here.

here too. Freshclam was eating 100% of cpu for longer time, after
downloading savebrowsing database. After cleaning database directory and
re-running freshclam it looks OK again.

IIUC, the fix wasn't pushed to 0.95.2 yet :-(

Ok.
I removed the 'safebrowsing.cld' file, which was 58mb in size, from
clamav's
database directory.
Ran freshclam -v and it downloaded a 'safebrowsing.cvd' file at 32mb
in size.

Freshclam exited normally and clamd reloaded as expected but I'm
confused
as to the difference in the 'safebrowsing.xxx' file types AND size.....

Robert.

Hi,

we're looking into the problem. As a temporary solution you can
disable SafeBrowsing in freshclam.conf.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

*.cvd is compressed, *.cld is plain-text. Both contain a
cryptographic signature. A .cvd is converted to a .cld when a
*.cdiff incremental update is applied by freshclam.
