Clamav Pre Upgrade Issues.

Dear List

I am running FC5 and ClamAV 0.90.3 installed and running, also have
following components installed

clamav-devel-0.90.3-1
clamav-db-0.90.3-1
clamav-server-0.90.3-1
clamav-0.90.3-1

Now I want to upgrade existing istalled version to clamav-0.93.

I am unable to find any .rpm of clamav-0.93 for FC5 and decided to
upgrade by using clamav-0.93.tar.gz

Please guide me will it work or not.

Regards,

Shahzad Abid

Hi Shahzad,

I am running FC5 on my email servers and yes, you can build, install,
and run 0.93 on FC5. You will need to uninstall 0.90.3 before upgrading
if you used the RPM to install. You will also need (most likely anyway)
to download the sources for sendmail if you are using clamav-milter.
Building and installation is pretty straight forward using ./configure,
make, make install. You will need to check and set permissions on the
log and database directories to ensure they are accessible by clamav user.

Yes, uninstall all the above. The rpm install uses different directories
from the sources. If you don't you will end up with both versions
installed and run into problems.

I am not running qmail so I can not provide specific help with qmail.
However, search through the list archives and I posted a link for using
qmail with clamav.
