setup on fedora 8

hi,

this is my first post so excuse if it has allready been answered (it did not
find an answer...)

what i try to is to setup clamav on fedora 8, i use webmin to manage my
server and has allready installed a webmin module for clamav

but when i click activate clamav it just returns with the same option

it can update just fine.... i have installed clamav via yum... clamav.log is
blank, at least the one defined in the webmin module

i also keep gettign this e-mail:

WARNING: update of clamav database is disabled; please see
'/etc/sysconfig/freshclam'

i have removed the disable line in the end of that file so i hope it ok now

but i'm not sure of these path's.. anyone know the right ones?

Working directory
Backup directory
Daemon init script path
Configuration file path

i guess that for Quarantine repository directory you can choose whatever dir
you want (mine is set to /var/spool/milter)

hope someone can help crack this nut

regards bo

Re: setup on fedora 8 [In reply to]

Hi sounds like you just need to find and edit the files:

freshclam.conf
clamd.conf

(usually in /etc, or /usr/local/etc)

Regards,
jamie

I am running ClamAV from the Fedora8 install, along with spamassassin,
sendmail, and procmail.

I do not use webmin so I do not know if that will make a difference.
sendmail is set to run ClamAV on mail via the clamav-milter inteface

As for file paths, running
rpm -q --filesbypkg $(grep -i clam /var/log/rpmpkgs|sed -e's/.rpm//')

yeilds :-

clamav-update /var/log/freshclam.log

If I remember right Start up was as follows :-

Install the above packages

edit /etc/freshclam.conf remove disabled setting
edit /etc/clamd.d/milter.conf remove disabled setting

freshclam winged about the database, then went away and fixed it.
I suspect that I should possibly have installed clamav-update or
clamav-data but not both?

chkconfig clamav-milter on
service clamav-milter start

Check /var/log/clamd.milter I had a permissions problems, not sure why.
Ended up with
ls -Zd /var/run/clamav-milter
drwx------ clamilt clamilt system_u:object_r:clamd_var_run_t:s0
/var/run/clamav-milter
ls -Z /var/run/clamav-milter/clamav.sock
srwxr-xr-x clamilt 103 system_u:object_r:clamd_var_run_t:s0
/var/run/clamav-milter/clamav.sock

Fix restart and recheck log

service clamav-milter restart

edit /etc/mail/sendmail.mc and add
=======================

after adding to sendmail.cf it get:

Starting clamav-milter: clamav-milter: socket-addr
(local:/var/run/clamav-milter/clamav.sock) doesn't agree with sendmail.cf

Oops

Check the socket path in /etc/sendmail.mc and /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

INPUT_MAIL_FILTER(`clamav', `S=local:/var/run/clamav-milter/clamav.sock,
F=, T=S:4m;R:4m')dnl

Against the the lines in /etc/sysconfig/clamav-milter

CLAMAV_FLAGS='-lo -c /etc/clamd.d/milter.conf
local:/var/run/clamav-milter/clamav.sock'

Options read from the sysconfig file by /etc/init.d/clamav-milter
override options in /etc/clam.d /milter.conf
