Unity accounts

I have Unity 5.0 that was upgraded from Unity 4.0.5. I'm running UM back
ended with Exchange 2k3 and migrating to E2k7. I have found two accounts
that I'm not quite sure about.

USbms_<servername>
and
Unity_<servername>

They are currently disable accounts but I'm wondering if someone created
them or if the system did.

Is there any reason to keep them?

Re: Unity accounts [In reply to]

Hello,

The system creates these accounts and uses them in Exchange for message
delivery.

Thanks,

James

So do I migrate them to the new Exchange 2k7 box or leave them on the E2k3
box?

In other words, if you delete these users, your Unity system will stop
working...

Re: Unity accounts [In reply to]

When you run the Message Store Configuration Wizard to pair with the new
server, they will be automatically created.

Re: Unity accounts [In reply to]

So If I understand you correctly, I partner with Exchange 2k7 and it creates
some more system accounts.

After this process is done, I can go back to the E 2k3 box and delete those
old accounts?

Thanks

Only if the E2k3 server is no longer needed to deliver Unity voicemail.

Re: Unity accounts [In reply to]

You're never going to have two of those accounts. The Unity_<servername>
mailbox is located on the partner exchange server and is the mailbox
that Unity logs in to, among other things, source messages from unknown
callers. This gets moved by Unity (or the script you manually run, in
the case of 2007) when you change the partner server. The UsBms mailbox
is used for broadcast messaging, it does not get moved in any automated
way with 2000/2003, and you'll need to migrate it to the new store
yourself. For 2007, the script that the wizard generates might move that
one too, not sure, but you can check easily enough by reading it. If
not, manually move it.
