DMA Warnings

I am currently trying to upgrade CUCM 4.2(3) to 6.1. The current cluster is
using MS AD for directory services. When running the DMA tool I get quite a
few warnings, but I'm not sure if they are something that needs to be
resolved before upgrading. Below are some examples of the different types of
errors:

------------------------------------------------------------
03/10/2008 12:38:59
Warning: UserID:jsmith: is invalid - Attribute ciscoatUserProfileString is
found empty.

Condition: The user does not contain a valid pointer to the User profile

Solution: Please verify that the user is a valid CUCM user. Please access
the user through the CUCM Admin page and associate a device to the user.
Then disassociate the same device. This procedure will create the required
profile for the user

------------------------------------------------------------

(This username is not a CUCM user so I don't think there is anything I can
do about this.)

------------------------------------------------------------
03/10/2008 12:39:05
Warning: Numplan (NULL) for User fbrown is invalid. Ignoring the user
Condition: Primary Extension for this user is invalid. It does not exist in
the database

Solution: Please ensure that the user is associated with a valid primary
extension/numplan

------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------
03/10/2008 12:39:06
Warning: PersonalAddressBook: EndUser
=PersonalAddressBook,OU=bjones_info,OU=user_info,OU=CC not found. Invalid
user.
PAB-DN=CN=bjones1131384796620,OU=PersonalAddressBook,OU=bjones_info,OU=user_info,OU=CCN,OU=Users,DC=domain,DC=com
Condition: Either the user does not exist in the directory or has been
tagged invalid

Solution: Please verify that the user exists in the directory and is a valid
CCM user; ie. User with profiles

------------------------------------------------------------

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

Re: DMA Warnings [In reply to]

jsmith - user will not be migrated. likely not an issue.
fbrown needs the 'primary extension' box checked on the device associatoin page. if not, i believe the user simply will not be migrated.
bjones's personal address book will not be migrated - not a huge loss.

Thanks Wes! That's about what I figured but I know what happens when you
assume!

Re: DMA Warnings [In reply to]

Warnings are fine... the magic line you are looking for is:

"Tar file is still usable..."

If it says that, you can go ahead with the upgrade...

Re: DMA Warnings [In reply to]

Sounds like your call park DN (801X) doesn't have a CallManager
specified. Should be pretty easy to fix.

Re: DMA Warnings [In reply to]

Hi Pete,

1) the user was deleted but the user profile still exists. easiest
thing is to delete the user profile in DCDirectory. The user-profile is
based off the username, but then random string appended, so add user or
add/delete user is not likely to fix this. It's mostly harmless though,
user profile should not be ported.

2) you will need to run some SQL to figure out what's going on here:
select * from device where pkid like '%2a9f9c5a1cff%'
and investigate that device.

a bit of info (devicetype) from:
select * from typemodel where enum=124

3) more sql required. devices which do not support EM should not have a
device profile
select * from device where pkid like '%c5afee95f747%'
and investigate that device

Backup your database and server before performing any direct SQL
commands or modifications. you may be better off contacting TAC to
assist with the cleanup.

/Wes
