abbr. dialing as a softkey

I know I am missing something but for some reason I can't figure out how
to get the abbr. dialing softkey to come up on the display of a 7961
cisco phone. All 6 lines are being used as lines so I need to set up
speed dials using the abbr. dialing. The cisco site is useless. In the
guide it tells you how to set it up, but if the abbr. dialing doesn't
show you can't use it! Thanks for your help, anyone!

Leave the phone on-hook. Press the number of the speed dial you wish to
access and you will see the softkey AbbrDial appear.
