Unity 4.1 on box messaging

Its been a while since I had to check this but of course the situation arose on a Friday. I have a user on a Unity 4.1 voicemail only system. They accidentally deleted a message. I cant remember if Unity sends messages to the deleted items folder by default or it is gone for good.
Anyone know the answer off the top of their head? Unfortunately the login I have does not allow me access to the users exchange folder.
