Changing Billing Server in CUCM 7.1.2

What is the best way to change a Billing Application server without losing
any CDR data?

I need to Re-IP my current SFTP server, and I need to know the best
procedure to do that without losing any CDR data.

Thanks,

-C

Do it when there's no call traffic. :-)

Looks like you can simply change the IP address in the CDR Management.
Then click the Reset button to connect and generate new keys. I think
as long as you don't delete the billing server registration, it will
hold CDR records if it misses an upload, until the next successful
upload. Maybe someone else can verify that.

I cannot change the IP for mine. It looks like an editable field but it
cannot be changed.

you can send CDR's to multiple SFTP servers. Just setup the new IP and then
have it sent to both IP's for the transitions.

The problem is that I am just re-IP'ing the current SFTP server, and you
can't setup another server that the CUCM can't establish a connection to
first.

Hmm. What are the chances you could apply both IPs to your SFTP server,
get the new one entered in CUCM then remove the original IP from both
CUCM then the SFTP server? It would be trivial to do if the new IP is
on the same network, but I'm guessing it's not going to be that simple!

(If your SFTP is a common Linux server with OpenSSH, you can make
OpenSSH listen to all IPs/interfaces. In fact I believe it does by
default.)

Most servers have more than one NIC port. Why not assign another IP
to the server and add that as the secondary SFTP IP then remove the
original IP afterwards. Another approach would be temporarily
enabling SFTP on another machine and send CDR's while changing the IP
on the first machine.

Re: Changing Billing Server in CUCM 7.1.2 [In reply to]

I think I am going to go with the temp server idea. Easy enough to load
SFTP server on another machine then copy over an missing files after I
change the IP on the existing server.

Thanks,
