6900 series IP Phones

Any one out there using these phones. How are they like compared to the 7900
series.

Any pros or cons.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 6900 series IP Phones [In reply to]

I just received my first 6921 a few days ago and have it powered up on my desk.
seems to be decent quality, the handset is nice and heavy like the 7900 series, just smaller. Fixed stand that has two adjustable positions for the phone angle.

The big Pro is the cost. I almost lost a deal to shoretel because the customer didn't want the 7911's due to the lack of speakerphone and didn't want to purchase 100 x 7942's due to cost. The 6921 gave them the option of a cheap phone with a speakerphone. Now if Cisco would only add support to UCM for the 500 series phones. :)

The Con is it's only supported on CUCBE & above. no CME or UC500 support.

Re: 6900 series IP Phones [In reply to]

Thanks Tony.

I value your feedback. I am also looking at these phones.

Do you have call waiting working on these phones. I see in the data sheets
that these phones are limited to 1 call per line and you need a second line
for call waiting to work.

Aman

Unless I am reading this wrong it does say that it is supported in CME.

Re: 6900 series IP Phones [In reply to]

Anyone have these in production yet? Thoughts?

Interested in how they hold up.. hookswitch for example has been a
problem on some of the 7900 models.

Do you find end-users have an easier time using them over the
'flagship' 7900's when switching from a key system or pbx? Not that I
think the 7900's are hard to use, but some people are set in their
ways.

I'm thinking this is a nice simple, inexpensive option for faculty
offices and other light usage areas (from higher ed point of view).
Almost cheap enough that I would think about offering the 6921 in dorm
rooms.
