i think that's one of the things you will see, actually, if you try to
log in using the wrong username/password. I have seen the same sort of
thing on CUCM.

Re: Database communication error in Presence 7.0 [In reply to]

Might also see this error if the DB is not started. Try 'utils service
list' from the CLI.

This can occur if the proper steps were not followed in changing the host
name or IP.

Re: Database communication error in Presence 7.0 [In reply to]

A Cisco DB[STOPPED] Component is not running

That's your problem.

Most of the time this means the IP address referenced in the database
does not match the IP address of the server.
Can you try running 'run sql select * from processnode'? The IP
address returned needs to match that of the server.

Hi all,

Did anyone have a fix for this? Can the TAC fix remotely via root? or is it a complete rebuild?

Cheers

Re: Database communication error in Presence 7.0 [In reply to]

Hi Dana,

If the hostname or IP was changed without following proper steps please
change it back and then reboot server. this should restore service.

if that is not the case or if that does not fix it then yes, it is best
to open a TAC case to investigate.

Regards,
Wes

Re: Database communication error in Presence 7.0 [In reply to]

FYI all,

It was easiest to just rebuild the server from scratch. Less than 1 hr.

Cheers

Hi Dana,

If the hostname or IP was changed without following proper steps please change it back and then reboot server. this should restore service.

if that is not the case or if that does not fix it then yes, it is best to open a TAC case to investigate.

Wes

Hi all,

Did anyone have a fix for this? Can the TAC fix remotely via root? or is it a complete rebuild?

Cheers

a cisco db is stopped.

this usually happens when one attempts to change the hostname or ip address of the server and does not follow proper steps. have you made any such changes recently?

ssh to the CLI to obtain informix logs that should provide insight:
file get activelog cm/log/informix/*

I am sure that i am using the right login and password , I am seeing many services shows stopping and some shows component not found ,could not able to bring up the services . I could able to login to OS Admin but not the Presence Application.

Any way that i can make it work other than reinstall?

This can occur if the proper steps were not followed in changing the host
name or IP.

i think that's one of the things you will see, actually, if you try to
log in using the wrong username/password. I have seen the same sort of
thing on CUCM.
