7206VXR NPE-G2 IOS

My requirements are:
- MPLS PE functionality
- LNS/L2TP with IP TOS Reflection

I am eyeing the following:

12.4.24T7(ED)
c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T7.bin

or

12.2.33 SRE6
c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.122-33.SRE6.bin

Both released March2012.

Or should I go up to 15.1?

thanks

Re: 7206VXR NPE-G2 IOS [In reply to]

I'd probalby go 15.1M - but not 12.4.24T.

12.4T is gone, dead, buried and won't see many (if any) more bug fixes.
I wouldn't bother going there. The upgrade path from that is 15.0(M)
or 15.1(4)M anyway which has 'MD' status.

You could also consider 15.1(3)S2 as that seems to be quite good for us
(on a 7200 NPE-G1 though, but the code should be largely the same on the
G2). However 15.1(3)S does NOT have Netflow support, so if Netflow is
important to you then 15.1(4)M4 will probably be the more logical choice.

Apparently the last IOS builds that we'll see for the 7200s are to be
15.2(4)M and rebuilds due out in a couple of months.

Thanks.

How come 12.4 has March 2012 update?
Same with 12.2 SRE?
Is 15.1 more stable?

Weird thing about 15.1 is whenever I check cisco feature tool for that IOS, it displays the message below:

"The Image Name you entered
does not match any supported Cisco software releases in this tool.
Please change the Image Name and search again. Thank you."

12.4(24)T End Of Life notice:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps8802/ps6968/ps6441/eol_c51-632350.html

What tool are you referring to - what is the "Cisco feature tool" ? Do
you mean Feature Navigator? And what are you trying to look up?

Hi.

Thanks again for the EOL notice.

Yes I am referring to  Cisco feature navigator.
I searched by image and put in "c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M4.bin"
No luck.

Re: 7206VXR NPE-G2 IOS [In reply to]

for the bulk feature-set, try c7200-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M2.bin (older) or c7200-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M3.bin (unfortunately deferred) and then look at the release notes on
c7200-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M4.bin (which is Maintenance Deployment release), to see any resolved caveats and/or improvements: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/15_1/release/notes/15_1m_and_t.html
