Cherokee localisation easier with Transifex!

Hi guys,

Thanks to the kind help of Transifex developers (Dimitris Glezos and
Diego Búrigo Zacarão), we added Cherokee as a new project on their
Transifex.net instance: http://www.transifex.net/projects/cherokee/trunk/

Translators can now access a translation file from there, mark it as
'locked' if they're working on it, and also 'watch' it to receive a
notification when the file changes in the future.

No need to be an SVN ninja, just pick your PO file from the web
interface! ;-)

For submissions, we can:

a) send the user contributions by e-mail to the project maintainer
b) setup svn commits over SSH using a SVN user in our versioning system.

I'd say to adopt a) at the moment as po/admin/LINGUAS needs to be
updated manually.

Any thoughts, comments and suggestions?

Ciao,

Gianluca

Great news! :-)

All I've to say is: web based editor.

That is the best way (IMHO) to do translations when you want... It'd
be cool if you are at the airport, open your browser to Transifex,
translate 10 sentences and close the browser. Those setences will be
available while you are flying. :-)

Anyway, it's much better than it has been. Thank you very much! :-)

Have you translated it to Russian? That's awesome! I've just made my
day.

By the moment, send me the .po file to me, and I'll commit it
upstream. Let's see how we can use Transifex in order to make it more
confortable for everybody.

Cheers!

That's s very good point, actually.

AFAIK, currently the only way to generate the .pot file is to:

- download the sources (svn or tarball)
- ./configure
- cd po/admin
- make update-pot

Hi guys,

Things are going well on the Transifex side. They are working hard also
to release a preliminary version of Lotte (a Lightweight Online
Translation Editor) on transifex.net soon.

Indifex, the g(r)eek company behind Transifex, announced it to the
annual Greek Open Source Developers? Conference in Athens: The slides
(with screenshots) are available here:
http://conf.ellak.gr/2009/presentations/session1/transifex.pdf

Will keep you updated ;-)

Cheers,
