Issue 964 in cherokee: Accessibility issues in web interface
|
|
Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 964 by ndarilek: Accessibility issues in web interface http://code.google.com/p/cherokee/issues/detail?id=964 I recently upgraded to the latest version of Cherokee as shipped in the Ubuntu PPA, and noticed some major accessibility issues in the administrative interface. These issues are not present in the previous 0.99 version and represent major regressions. Instead of filing each one, I'll just note that in general it is now impossible to navigate in most of the dialogs that appear in response to creating new virtual servers, creating new handlers, etc. For instance, I tried creating a new vserver, but the only fields to which I could tab were the nickname, add and cancel buttons. I can simulate mouse movements with Orca, but it is impossible to tab to the large list of wizards the documentation recommends that I use to do just about every task. I can simulate mouse clicks on the wizard categories to, for instance, click on "platforms," but no matter what I do I can't select Rails. I can't even use ctrl-f to open Firefox's find dialog, because this silly javascript popup is aggressively stealing keycodes and modifying normally accessible focus behavior. I really like the web-based, graphical configurability of Cherokee, as I'm not a big fan of config files. But I'm not sure that the 1.X releases are usable. Sorry for the frustrated tone, but I was pleased to see various accessibility issues fixed in 0.99X such that Cherokee was a joy to use compared to just about everything else I've tried, and now I think I'll have to switch to something else that I don't enjoy using nearly as much so I don't waste any more of my client's billable hours. Thanks for your time, and if I can provide any more specific feedback then do let me know, but I think that trying to use the dialogs with just the keyboard will be quite illuminating. :) _______________________________________________ Cherokee-dev mailing list Cherokee-dev [at] lists http://lists.octality.com/listinfo/cherokee-dev
