Issue 631 in cherokee: Make cherokee.pot file available for translation

New issue 631 by skarcha: Make cherokee.pot file available for translation
http://code.google.com/p/cherokee/issues/detail?id=631

I think that cherokee.pot file should be available under "Contribute"
section of the project web page.

A link to Cherokee project in Transifex
(http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/cherokee/) could be interesting as
well.

Yeah, a "Translating Cherokee" section would be an interesting addition. +1.

I remember we discussed about this when skarcha initially ported the admin
to
gettext, and then forgot about it completely.

We need something like Transifex, and should directly link to it from our
'contribute' section if it is going to be kept up to date.
Can it be automated? (commit newest pot files to Transifex back and forth)
Anyone with the know-how willing to volunteer?

AFAIK, Transifex does not support on-line translations. It looks like our
only choice
is the let people know where to get the .pot file, and how to translate and
submit
the .po file by hand (using old-school gettext translation tools and
e-mail/subversion).

Unless a better option raises up, I'd vote to add a "Translations" section
to the web
site.

I've added the link and some info on r3911 and automated the process to
have the
potfile automatically updated on the server.

I would have liked to deploy an app that would allow for online
translation, but
transiflex doesn't seem capable. If any of you guys knows of one, please do
tell.

Great!

I only miss the way the user can sent their translations.

I like Rosetta (Launchpad), but AFAIK, Transifex was working on an on-line
editor[1]

Do we know anything about the on-line editor?
I think we all agree that having one on our main site would be the best
solution to
encourage translators.

I don't know nothing about the on-line editor.

What about have our own simple on-line editor? Something like this[1]

I have a little project in Transifex and, in my case, the translations are
pushed to
a special branch in my git repo so I can merge the changes when required.

Although you can get the pot files and work on them offline, seems there's
an online
translator:

https://www.transifex.net/faq/#heading_toc_j_13

Transifex it's a good choice IMHO, and there's an active team of developers
that
could eventually find Cherokee interesting to contribute ;)

The right .pot file is available at:

http://www.cherokee-project.com/download/trunk/cherokee.pot

It's updated automatically a few times a day. This is the pot file we ought
to point people to.

Transifex supports on-line editor. its so cool. please sync cherokee.pot to
Transifex.

1. Signin Transifex and access to
https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/Cherokee/
2. Add cherokee.pot to PROJECT RESOURCES.
3. Click cherokee.pot link and push "Edit Resource" button.
4. Set http://www.cherokee-project.com/download/trunk/cherokee.pot to
Source file URL and click "Automatically update source file" checkbox.
5. Save translation resource.

I created cherokee-ja project for Japanese translation.
https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/cherokee-ja/

I'll destroy this if you upload cherokee.pot to official cherokee project.

thanks,
