AJAX Bug Fixing

Just wanted to ping the list about what the scope of the AJAX bug
fixing will be before the release of 2.0. Namely, is it worth it to
update scripaculous to its current version? It looks like at least
some of the browser incompatibilities we see are due to the fact that
the current scriptaculous/prototype files are two and a half years out
of date. It would be helpful if Marshall could weigh in on how
challenging an upgrade path would be since he did most of the work -
how much customization he had to do, etc. Also, is there any
documentation hanging around from Marshall's work in 2006 as to the
process of how he updated things, or should I just take a look at the
commit list?

David, I know you've said you are going to work on bug fixes sometime
in the near future. What are your plans in regard to the AJAX bugs?
Do we need to stir up another person on the list to help out?

Yeah, I think the commit list is probably the best place to look,
aside from the code itself.

That would be great, yes.

Best,

Yes

There are not a lot of hacks to either Prototype or script.aculo.us.
The new versions have several backwards incompatible changes that
would need to be fixed, so it is not a drop-in upgrade. Both Prototype
and script.aculo.us have posted upgrade guides.

Thanks. That sounds good that there are upgrade guides. I've been
looking at the work you did in lib.js - I saw you made some over-
rides, but it looks like you mostly adjusted it to be compatable with
prototype/script,aculo.us. Is that a fair assesment?

I'm not really in favor of moving to jquery right now since we've
already got things working with prototype/script.aculo.us. Don't
tell my boss though. :p

Just wanted to provide an update on the Ajax stuff. We've been working
on the Prototype and Scriptaculous upgrade, and should have a commit
soon.
