Is there a compelling and still relevant reason why we can't run
Bricolage in one window instead of in a separate pop-up window? Is this
just to prevent users from using the browser's navigation features?

That would be my guess. We've always run it in a normal window, and
users tend to learn their lesson pretty quickly if they don't listen
to us about not using the back button.

Also we require the one window because it's named, so you can't mess
up the state of things when, say, editing a story by opening it in two
windows.

That could have very well have been what caused at least one of my
weird story errors when testing Bricolage 1.11.1.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the fact that we ran with a
toolbar, or people opened multiple windows/browsers caused some of the
multiple instance issues we have seen.

And somehow I missed this thread from 2004.

;

Fail.

It would be nice if that were the sole cause of the story issue, but we've never run Bric in a window with toolbars and have experienced the same problem, as have others who have posted to the users list from time to time.

If someone could please, *please* replicate this and file a bug
report, I could fix it!

I would *love* to reliably replicate that bug. You will be the first
to know! :)
