Also some odd problem where inactive elements are causing errors like: Bric::SOAP::Template : no element found matching (element => "book_review") at ./bricolage/bin/bric_dev_sync line 823, <STDIN> line 1.
Those elements are not in use, and are deactivated -- so odd that it should require them. Setting active=t on those fixed the issue.
