This bug was shown in a situation where the system file permissions did not allow a template to be written. When deploying a template in such a situation through the workflow interface, a lightbox bug alert will pop up notifying the user of the error. This is the proper behavior.
However, if you attempt to deploy the template using the "Check in and deploy" button on the template profile, then the error will not properly be thrown, and the user will be dumped out onto the login page.
We saw stuff like this at Denison all the time when there were template errors in story profiles, so I wonder if that needs to be looked at as well.
