We publish xml files to a certain watch folder on our system and those xmls tell our video transcoder where to pick up the video. I've noticed that the cms sometmes sends out duplicate files, two of the same xml files, with the same title, and at the same time. This creates problems in our workflow because it uses up unnecessary resources. Would you know why the system produces duplicats in some instances and is there anything I could do so this doesn't happen?

Is the story generating the XML in two different output channels?

And are the two files put in the same place? Or are they two completely independent files?

How are they distributed?

It's only supposed to be one file put in that location. Yes, the duplicates are put into the same watch folder. They have the exact same time stamp inside that folder and the content is exactly the same. Basically, the template gets the data from the story that the editors create and pushes that into the xml file which goes to a local watch folder on a Win32 platform. The story itself has several output channels for the config file, etc. This output channel is the only one associated with that destination. It doesn't happen all the time but it's been happening more often.

Two separate files with different file names?

BTW, this doesn't sound like a Bricolage bug, but maybe a templating issue. Might be better taken to the [mail lists](http://bricolagecms.org/support/lists/), especially the users list. The denizens of the list would likely like to see the templating code.

It goes to one watch folder on a windows server...a folder on our T drive. I just open that folder and see duplicate files with the exact same time stamp...one of them is given some strange character set near the end of the title because it doesn't allow two files with the exact same name in the same folder but they are essentially the same file.

Something is definitely up, but it's best discussed on the mail list, along with detailed configuration (distribution) info and likely template code required to help use decipher what's going on.
