Two Perl scripts that might help are available here, under project bric_utils:

bric_events_rss -- generates RSS with recent events; good for a general view of
what's going on
bric_spy -- generates CSV of events based on search criteria; good for more
specific reporting (e.g. how many new stories of type 'News release' over the
last two weeks?)
We're running bric_spy nightly and importing the CSV into an external MySQL
database for reporting.
