I serve about 3 million page views/day on one of my small mod_backhand clusters. It is a two tier mod_backhand setup. Two front-end machines running mod_ssl and mod_backhand and 3 heavy mod_* and mod_backhand on the second tier. I am sure people run much bigger installs than that...
