spreading out traffic to multiple servers

Hi!
I have a little question:
I have to servers. On these servers you have an amount of free traffic. All I want is to divide the traffic to the both.
I installed mod_backhand locally and it works fine, but I'm not sure if it does what I want. Some files loaded on the page were in both apache log files...
And: Is it secure to use it for a forum (vbulletin) that uses phpsessions?
