Plans, but only plans. The plan is to break mod_backhand into two pieces: (a) resource collection and logic and (b) intelligent plumbing and decision framework. (a) will be backhand 2.0 (b) will be in mod_proxy (or any other program that wants to make smart decisions) A quick reason why I am not motivated to do that. Apache 2 is really in its infancy. All the Apache interaction that I have is with Apache/mod_perl. mod_perl is becoming thread safe, but the plethora of modules on CPAN are not. So, it will be a long time before I can run Apache+mod_perl+CPAN modules with the threaded MPM.
