Myth .269 Update wrecks live tv

Hello Guys,

Just took the .269 update on fc14 32bit and my Live Tv playback was
really bad . The picture kept freezing or slowing in short intervals and
audio was repeating over and over again . Reverted back to .268 and all
is fine .

Best Regards
Milorad

Does anyone else experience this? I see quite a few updates to 269 in
the logs and a live tv bug that would affect everyone would had
generated a lot more posts/bugzillas etc.

Maybe the update didn't properly work? Are you filtering some packages
away?

It's very rare for me to use 'Watch TV' so I'm not sure quite what I
ought to expect, but running 269 f13 64-bit dvb-t multi-tuner multirec
in the UK I couldn't change channels, at least not while another
programme was being recorded. I tried using the 'c' key. I haven't
noticed any other posts about recent changes like this, and that does
seem surprising.

Without a scheduled recording in progress retuning seems OK and, on a
quick trial, viewing is glitch-free.

Replay start is much smoother than it was before, though, and the
problem with truncated playback of a dvb-t radio recording in progress
seems to have gone away. In general things are looking good, so I'll
probably not revert.

Re: Myth .269 Update wrecks live tv [In reply to]

Hello Guys,

I have just done another update from .268 to .269 and the issue is back
. It seems to be triggered after channel change . I have a small
recording of live tv that I can upload somewhere if you are interested .
The method of upgrade was via drpm . So now I will un-install .269 and
re-install .269 in full rpms . Just to see if it is the delta process
that is causing this .

Best Regards

Milorad

Re: Myth .269 Update wrecks live tv [In reply to]

Hello Guys,

After removing the drpm installed .269 and reinstalling the same .269
version in full rpms the issue is still there . This time it started as
soon I started live tv . It did not happen like last time , where it
only became apparent after channel change . So I reverted back to .268
and everything is fine again . This time I kept a close eye on the
packages and they were 37 in and 37 out . So no possibility of missed
packages , they were 1 for 1 with .268 and .269 . Got another small
recording with the issue . Looks like for me there is no going forward .

Best Regards

Milorad

It was unlikely that drpms could harm a package install as it is checked
against its checksums in the metadata, but thanks for trying it!

For reference the differences source-wise are that these two are from
v0.24-199-g5367795 and v0.24-231-gc2baf1b respectively, e.g. there were
32 commits between the two and from the logs there are quite a few
candidates that could affect live tv. Would you like to report this
upstream?

Re: Myth .269 Update wrecks live tv [In reply to]

Hello Axel and Guys,

I have not received any feedback on the bug yet . I noticed that we have
rev 270 out now . I would like to try this one to see if that is any
better . However in case it is not , I would like to fall back to rev
268 . Do we have this rev still available in the repo ?

Best Regards

Re: Myth .269 Update wrecks live tv [In reply to]

Hello Guys,

I have found the rev 268 mythtv rpms , thanks Axel for leaving them in
the repo . They are in the repo but not visible on the webpage . Anyway
I have an update on the problem . I have upgraded my installation to rev
270 . My operating system is Fedora 14 - 32 bit , using latest updates .
After upgrading I rebooted the pc , then using LiveTv tuned into a
channel . Almost immediately the problem started where video would slow
down in bursts the speed back up to normal speed every 10 to 20 seconds
, while during these slowdown periods audio would loop and last few
words would be repeated a couple of times over , while audio is
repeating video would go on and the two would go out of sync , then
audio and video would re-sync and play back normally for another 10 to
20 seconds .

My normal playback settings are using "VDPAU High Quality" profile . I
changed the profile to "High Quality" which uses full software decoding
only , and the problem went away and the playback is perfect . However
my CPU loading increased dramatically . I tried to set the playback
profile to "VDPAU Normal" , but as soon as I did this problem started
immediately . So at the moment I still have rev 270 installed and
running with no VDPAU , playback is perfect , but CPU is running hard .

I am using Axel's latest Nvidia Drivers with my GTX-450 card , using the
HDMI output for both audio and video .

Any suggestions on how to proceed further greatly appreciated .

Best Regards

Milorad
