MythTV upgrade procedure?

I just read a posting on the MythTV mailing list (
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/405443 ) which
mentions DB backup and restore, my assumption is they are talking about
falling back .
My current approach will be :

1. Close MythFrontend
2. service mythbackend stop
3. Backup Database
4. yum update mythtv
5. mythtvsetup
6. service mythbackend start
7. mythfrontend

Have I missed any other steps?
note I have been told that mythtvsetup updates my DB schema etc

Thanks

Paul

Yup, these are basically the same steps that I followed to update myth on my
back-end system. The mythtvsetup does the update to the DB schema.

Note that you need the 'atrpms-testing' repo enabled in order to get the
0.22 stuff.

This will probably only update one package. You should simply yum
update against the repo you want to pull mythtv from (stable=0.21,
testing=0.22, bleeding=0.23)

Thanks
I used the
yum update mythtv --enablerepo=atrpms-test

and it now pulls in all required packages..

Axel,
can you update the current testing packages to RC2 level ie current fixes branch?

thanks

The repo is spelled differently (...-testing), so perhaps you just
updated to the latest 0.21?

Already done before your mail, so if you did download 0.22 packages
from ATrpms you have the post RC2 packages.

Re: MythTV upgrade procedure? [In reply to]

Is there a page on your website which shows current testing version of MythTV?

as this page seems to be different than the yum command output

Website shows 0.22-217_trunk_r22570.fc10
Yum shows 0.22-218_trunk_r22679.fc10

why is this so... ? :)

thanks

Website takes a while to get updated. It typically takes a day or two
for it to catch up to what's on dl.atrpms.net.
