dovecot-sieve

Hi,

I wonder if you have a method in your build-system, so that when one
package get rebuild, another does so too, like for the kernel to the
kmdl's.

If so could you please set it so that when dovecot leads to a rebuild of
dovecot-sieve? (dovecot-sieve depends on a specific version of dovecot)

Regards,
Kim

It's a manual decision/procedure. It was said that it should had been
neccessary to rebuild dovecot-sieve in 1.0.x, but judging from your
mail it seems to have to. Or were you refering to d-s 1.0.2? That's a
different story and it is being built and deliveered seperately.

At any rate new d-s packages will hit the repo later today. :)

It was just to minimize the window where dovecot would upgrade, but not
install, because of d-s dependency on the old package. Same old problem
as with kernel upgrades not working because new kmdl-packages are not
yet available.

Thanks!

Are you by the way also doing a ivtv-1.0.0 for the new f7 2.6.22 kernels?

But the d-s to d dependency is not that strict as the kmdl->kernel.

Yes, but the ivtv kmdl is part of the kernel now.

Now that we're approaching dovecot 1.1 release, it might be a good idea
to make that dependency more strict (<1.1) just to make sure dovecot 1.1
does not get upgraded until dovecot-sieve 1.1 is available.

Timo has said that there will be a 1.0.3 soon
(http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.mail.imap.dovecot/23302), so that
might be a good moment to do so :)

Will dovecot 1.1 break the ABI to dovecot-sieve?

Can't say for sure, but given the big changes there have been, I bet it
does (I recall Timo saying that current dovecot-sieve wouldn't even
compile with the released alpha, so it may be hint). I'll give it a
deeper look and do some tests later though.

Deliver from 1.1.alpha1 with dovecot-sieve 1.0.2 (from current rpm)
segfaults at sieve-cmu.c:640 (a call to a lib-storage function). So yes,
it breaks it.
