"Fixed" flash player 64 bits for bug #638477

Hi, Axel

after fighting against the awkward sound in F14, when using flash 64 bit
plugin,
which affected mp3 streams from flash (e.g., mpd/ampache), I finally have a
patched flash-plugin,
which seems to improve the sound a lot (it is working fine for me):

Hi Paulo,

Just an FYI,

I downloaded the srpm and built it on fc14. It works fine for me and
fixes the awful sound problem.

I also have Linux Torvalds' solution here:

http://people.atrpms.net/~pcavalcanti/srpms/memcpy-1.0-1.fc14.src.rpm

It installs a fixed memcpy in /opt/memcpy and provides a script in /usr/bin
that preloads it to a given program:

memcpy-preload.sh prog_name prog_arguments

for instance:

memcpy-preload.sh google-chrome

Booth solutions are equivalent in terms of fixing the 64 bit flash-plugin,
but this one can be applied
to other programs as well.

I also found out that the fluendo mp3 plugin for gstreamer has also been
affected, at least
old versions of the plugin (mine was dated from 2007). Removing the plugin
or using Linus' solution
fixes the problem for gstreamer.

You shouldn't be distributing the binary rpm produced by this, because
you'd be breaking Adobe's licencing terms, see comments 143-146 of the
same thread: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=638477#c143

You might be OK shipping a rpm which includes Ray Strode's script and
performs the modification post-install, but I wouldn't swear to it.

That is why I am just giving the .src.rpm. The fix is applied during the
build. I did not modify anything ...

You are not even allowed to redistribute originals without prior permission!

Does that hold true for the beta as well? We would have to remove it
from the repo. :(
I went to Adobe's site and filled out a request for a redistribution
license, let's see what happens.

I change the .src.rpm to download the source directly from adobe.
Therefore, this part is safe, I guess.

As a last workaround, we can offer just the .src.rpm and let
people rebuild it themselves. It has and option --without memcpy,
which turns off the patching (replacing all memcpys for memoves).

This sounds more like an nosrc.rpm, e.g. just change Source0: to
NoSource0: for the non-free licensed material.

In fact, the syntax is

NoSOurce: 0
NoSOurce: 2

However, the no source rpm requires that the user downloads
the sources manually, before the build. Mine, downloads
the sources automatically.
